The International Financial Institutions (IFIs) - also commonly referred to as Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) - encompass the World Bank Group, as well as numerous regional, geographically oriented development banks such as the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank and the Inter-American Development. The IFIs are specialized agencies created focused on supporting sustainable economic development in developing countries.
Through funded projects and financing opportunities, IFIs offer significant opportunities for firms and organizations seeking to grow their service and product exports to emerging and developing markets. The IFI market is large in both size and scope but the dynamic nature of IFI priorities and financing and the sheer scope of opportunity can be daunting for companies who are new to pursuing IFI-financed procurement. Success in this space requires a strong understanding of institutional priorities, procurement and financing guidelines, competitive positioning, and proposal development.
Amber helps firms, universities and colleges, industry associations, and government clients build the capacity to identify, pursue, and compete for IFI-funded opportunities in both consulting services and goods and works. Her advisory services include project and partner identification, bid and proposal support, business development strategy, and mission coordination to both IFI headquarters and borrowing member countries. She also regularly designs and delivers IFI business development training workshops, including specialized sessions focused on topics such as generating winning Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and technical and financial proposals.
With IFI experience spanning the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, Amber brings a practical and informed perspective to IFI market development. Prior to launching her consulting practice, she worked in the private sector where she designed and led an IFI-focused growth strategy, helping secure IFI-funded work in eight new markets within two years. Prior to this, she served as the Canadian Liaison Officer to the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C.
Amber has worked closely with the major IFIs and brings deep familiarity with their operations, procurement systems, and the factors that contribute to successful bidding and contract execution.
Amber partners with a select network of trusted specialists in Canada, and globally, to bring added sector insight, market expertise, and strategic depth to client engagements. This collaborative model ensures each assignment is supported by the right expertise, broad international perspective, and the capabilities needed to deliver stronger results.
